Glenn laid his musical foundation in piano and guitar at an early age. Later, he played lead guitar and sang lead vocals in rock bands in junior and senior high school.

At Grinnell College he explored multiple instruments and styles (classical, jazz, folk, and rock), studied composition, and graduated as a music major. His continuing and disciplined study of guitar, piano, and vocals underpin the intricate melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and robust harmonies found in his songwriting.

Along with music, Glenn has studied and practiced writing, attending multiple workshops and sharpening his craft of writing prose. In addition to the books mentioned on this site, he has published numerous short stories, articles, and essays, including pieces in the Bellevue Literary Review and the Los Angeles Times. He has more novels and short story collections in the works.

Songwriting combines these talents together and has evolved into his primary focus.
